A Thought of Peace

While sitting here at the computer a song dropped into my spirit, Peace Be Still, by Vanessa Bell Armstrong. As I hum this song, I feel myself relaxing and entering a serene state. I open the song on youtube and it seeps further into my spirit. I read a blog about a letter with picture of a sunset. It takes me back when I would have this perfect view of the sun setting at my old house. I would sit there from like 10 minutes before the sun would even look like it was setting and just look. Something about it gave me peace. Maybe it was a symbolization of ending with a new beginning soon to come that granted me that peace.

Some may say, "Peace from what at that young age?" When I was younger, elementary school age, I was experiencing death and hospitalized family member and friend after another! Hurt, pain and exclusion. Wasn't accepted in school because I was a transfer student. Never had a friend click. I always was in want of something. Unlike many other kids, what I wanted was immaterial. That sunset brought hope that tomorrow was going to be better for me, somehow. I haven't watched that sunset since I was in high school I think. I am going to look for another spot to watch it in and wait for my peace to come.

"Come on with peace! Help me say peace!" What gives you your peace? How do you get your peace?

yesss @ this post.

Sitting on my rooftop @ dusk will always make me think.
Laying on the beach... those first inches of water... if you close your eyes, it takes just a few second to forget where you are and get LOST in your thoughts...

and when im home, this track is always the first step in my quest for peace

I always thought of peace not as a quest but a state of mind that one could aquire at anytime. Then once you acquire peace, all the chaotic whims of the world would be quited ot stilled.

Being with nature & music has always been able to bring me to a peaceful state!

Peace, hmmm not one of those feelings I can say comes very frequent to my life. Listening to the song, I feel more unrest than peace. Maybe peace is something that I need to calm myself down. A quest for peace! Thank you fuzzy...

Peace for me, riding in a car at night with the windows down, listening to music, thinking while falling asleep. I fear those days are long gone now since my father passed away where he was the driver.

My Name, you sound like Sugga Avery on the Color Purple...."Oh, Miss Celly, I feels like singing."

Fuzzy, I have this song on my cheap little MP3..the James Cleaveland version, of course. Fuzzy, you make me smile. Of course, drawing normally brings me peace, but sometimes it brings along with it some hellafied frustration. LOL.
Next week, me and my sisters will be up in New Jersey so if you see a brother say "hi".

If I said that masturbation sometimes brings me peace, would that be inappropriate? Hey, sometimes it does....At least I think it's peace. Is it peace? Nevermind. Now I just feel dirty. DON'T JUDGE ME, DAMN IT!

Pace pace mio Dio! (Peace Peace My God)

That si so real man for peace for one may not be peace for another. For some it can be food, companionship or something phisical. For some it my be memories. For me it is my faith. Fatih in God, faith in the future faith in myself. Regardles, of what is said. It can only get better.

Here's to you finding your -- PEACE, so you don't have to grab your piece! LOL.

Light,

Rahman

@ forge: While I enjoy the James Cleaveland version, there is a certain sweetness that Vanessa brings to it. I have both songs back to back on my cheap lil mp3 player! I am always glad to make you and others smile. My "Word 4 Today" was laugh! interestingly enough!

@ The Captain: Is it possible to find another driver?

@ One Man’s Opinion: It would be appropriate! If thats what gives you peace, go for it! I like to read all of the feedback that I get. I want others to read your feedback as well! Go on and JERK IT and get your peace! It gives me rest, which in a way gives me peace! :-)

@ One Man’s Opinion: there are a few pieces I could grab! ;-) one gives me peace! hehe I wanna grab that one!

I find my peace in the idea that no matter what's going on today, it's temporary for tomorrow is on the horizon. Hence why for those of you who know me, know that I rarely stress over anything or anyone. Life is too short and personally, I don't have the time. My steadfast belief in that provides me...'Peace'.

When everything is beyond me as a human being-and too when its not-i just solemnly whisper 'peace' and everything just stops...and i hear nothing...like my mind is literally taken beyond the clouds and nothing to me, in those moments, matters. thats my peace. i find peace in writing, in the glow & amber of the sunset, and in prayer with God.

Nice post.

A large body of water and soothing music brings me peace. Yet at times just simple silence does the trick.

@ So Fa Real: If we have the power to move mountains, I don't see why we can't commant peace! Interesting. If Jesus did it and we have Jesus in us, we can do it too! hmmm!

@ HisLoveCoversMe: Thank you! Water, ever moving, I like it! :-)

Meditation, focusing on peace would do it too.

So many ways to get peace, but yet so many people don't have peace. Why is that?

Nature does it for me every time. I like to take a walk and look at the trees, listen to the birds, look at the ocean and just breathe.

I find peace in listening to my Gospel Music or praying while I am falling to sleep. I especially find peace when I read my bible and discover something new that applies to my life. Sometime I just sit quiet..This song ministers to me: http://thecorescenter.blogspot.com/2007/08/alabaster-box-cece-winans-luke-744-50.html

Listening to a nice mellow CD (probably Sade), praying, letting go of past hurts from people, and accepting both the good and bad that I've accomplished in my life so that I can become the best man I can be. Oh, and having a good jerk session while laying on my bed after a long, hard day LMAO.

I get my peace from knowing that the universe rights itself and that we are all connected somehow. Somehow your peace extends to me and mine to you. We breathe the same air and watch the same sun setting.
